The Open Archives Initiative develops and promotes interoperability standards that aim to facilitate the efficient dissemination of content. OAI has its roots in the open access and institutional repository movements. Continued support of this work remains a cornerstone of the Open Archives program. Over time, however, the work of OAI has expanded to promote broad access to digital resources for eScholarship, eLearning, and eScience.


Anjuman-i-Islamís Kalsekar Technical Campus (AIKTC) Institutional Repository aims to provide comprehensive access to scholarly digital content (Journals, e-books, articles, Electronic Theses and Dissertations (ETDs), video & audio resources) to every student, faculty and staff of AIKTC, New Panvel.

This policy is effective from 1 January 2014, in order to capture the publication outputs for the entire calendar year. The policy will remain in effect until further notice.

Submission Policy

Concerning depositors, quality & copyright

  1. Items may only be deposited by Library staff (KRRC Information Section).
  2. Authors may only submit their own work for archiving.
  3. The administrator only vets items for the eligibility of authors/depositors, relevance to the scope of the repository, valid layout & format, and the exclusion of spam
  4. The validity and authenticity of the content of submissions is the sole responsibility of the depositor.
  5. Items can be deposited at any time, but will not be made publicly visible until any publishers' or funders' embargo period has expired.
  6. Any copyright violations are entirely the responsibility of the authors/depositors.
  7. If the repository receives proof of copyright violation, the relevant item will be removed immediately.

Preservation Policy

Every AIKTC researcher/author of all school/department will send a PDF copy of the authorís final version of a paper immediately upon receipt of communication from the publisher about its acceptance.The KRRC will make the PDF available via AIKTC Open Access platform which can be accessed at http://www.aiktcdspace.org

The Knowledge Resources & Relay Centre (KRRC-Central Library) to function as middle point for implementation of the AIKTC Open Access policy. The KRRC will organize training session of Deanís/HoDís/Facultyís on Institutional Repositories, application and usage of Free and Open Source Software.



OAI-PMH Service

The AIKTC OAI-AIKTC service (PMC-OAI) provides access to metadata of all items in AIKTC archive, as well as to the full text of a subset of these items.

AIKTC-OAI is an implementation of the Open Archives Initiative Protocol for Metadata Harvesting (OAI-PMH), a standard for retrieving metadata from digital document repositories.
